Flower delivery from Šternberk to Velká Bystřice

Velká Bystřice lies about three kilometres from the eastern edge of Olomouc. The Olomouc–Opava railway line runs through the town. It became a town on 1 June 1998.

The first written mention dates to 1275, and from 1589 to 1848 the town belonged to the Olomouc chapter. The chateau was created by rebuilding a 14th-century fortress. The Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist, first mentioned in 1283, stands above the Vrtůvka stream; it has a Gothic core and was remodelled in the Baroque period. Next to the chateau, the castle park has an amphitheatre for about 1,000 spectators, and the Lidový rok folk festival has been held there since 1989.
