Nová Hradečná lies 9 km north-west of Uničov. It was formed in 1960 by merging the municipalities of Hradečná and Hradec, first mentioned in 1344. The Olomouc–Šumperk railway line runs along the western edge of Nová Hradečná, and the village has a station on it.

The Baroque Church of St Lawrence, dating from 1764, is a protected cultural monument, surrounded by a cemetery enclosed by a boundary wall. The Baroque rectory, built between 1764 and 1768 at the Liechtensteins' commission, is the seat of the Roman Catholic parish. Bradlo rises above the village at 600 m; known as the Moravian Blaník, it has a panoramic viewpoint and an educational trail from Libina. In the 2014 Village of the Year competition, the village won the gold ribbon in the regional round and placed third nationally.
